Security & privacy

Designed so there’s little to take.

We collect the minimum needed to run the service, protect it carefully, and never sell it. No ads, no third-party trackers — that is a product decision, not a setting.

  • Encrypted in transit, locked on device

    Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted. Sign-in uses per-device credentials instead of a shared password, and sensitive data cached on your phone is stored encrypted.

  • Your number stays yours

    Phone numbers and emails are never shown to strangers. Someone who finds you by number only sees it after you accept their request.

  • PIN & screen lock

    Set an account PIN that new devices must pass, plus a screen lock with optional biometrics on this device.

  • Block means block

    Blocking works both ways across messages, friend requests, and groups. No loopholes, no “just this once”.

  • Delete means delete

    Delete your account in the app at any time and your profile, contacts, and history are removed from the service.

An honest note. Tacet encrypts your connection and guards your data on our servers — it is not anonymous software and does not claim to hide the fact that you use it. If you need anonymity, please read our Privacy Policy first.

Permissions

Asked when needed. Never before.

Tacet never asks for system permissions at install or sign-in. Each one below is requested only at the moment you use the feature — and every one is optional.

Contacts Only when you tap “Find friends” Matched on our server to suggest people you know. Never shared with other users.
Photos & videos Only when you send or save media To attach what you pick, or save what you choose to keep. Nothing is scanned in the background.
Camera Only when you take a photo in the app For profile photos or a picture you send. No recording without you pressing the button.
Microphone Only while you hold to record voice Voice messages are recorded while you hold the button, then sent like any other message.
Location Only when you share your location in a chat The single location you send, to the people in that chat. We never track you in the background.
Notifications After sign-in, once To show new-message alerts on your device. You can switch them off in the app or in system settings.

Is Tacet free?
Yes — personal use is free, with no ads and no paid privacy tiers. If paid features ever appear, the price will be shown clearly before you’re charged.
Who can see my phone number?
Only someone who found you by that number or email — and only after you accept their request. Search results, messages, and groups never expose it.
Can I use Tacet on two phones?
Yes. Sign in with the same number or email on the second device and verify the code. All linked devices are listed in Settings.
What happens when I delete my account?
Your profile, contacts, and conversation history are removed from the service. Use “Delete account” in Settings, or email us from your account address if you can’t open the app.
Do you show ads or sell data?
No. There is no advertising in Tacet, no third-party trackers, and we do not sell personal data. Ever.
I didn’t get my verification code.
Check the country code and number, wait a minute for delivery, then tap Resend. For email sign-up, check spam. Still stuck? Write to [email protected].
