Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Tacet mobile apps and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Tacet is intended for personal, private communication. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, where higher) to use it.

2. Your account

You register with a phone number or an email address and verify it with a code we send you. You are responsible for the accuracy of that information, for keeping access to it secure, and for all activity that happens through your account.

One account is tied to one phone number or email address. Do not share your verification codes with anyone — we will never ask for them. If you believe someone else has access to your account, contact us promptly so we can help you secure it.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use Tacet only for lawful purposes. You must not use the Service (or help others use it) to:

• break the law, harass, threaten, or harm others, or harm minors in any way;
• send spam, bulk messages, or automated messages, or create accounts through automated means;
• distribute malware, infringe intellectual-property or other rights, or collect other users’ data without authorization;
• probe, scan, overload, or bypass the security or authentication of the Service.

If you encounter abuse — spam, harassment, or impersonation — block the account in the app and report it to [email protected] with your Tacet ID and a description. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules, and we may remove content that is illegal or that we are legally required to remove.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the messages, media, and other material you send through Tacet (“Your Content”). You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service — transmitting, temporarily storing, and delivering Your Content to the people you send it to and to your own linked devices.

You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights needed to share it.

5. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. To be clear: traffic between your device and Tacet is encrypted in transit and guarded on our servers, but Tacet is not anonymous software — using it does not hide the fact that you use it.

6. Keeping your account secure

Use a screen lock, keep your device updated, set an account PIN and screen lock in the app, and never share verification codes. If you lose access to your number or email, contact us as soon as you can; new devices on a PIN-protected account must pass PIN verification before they can read anything.

7. Fees

The Service is currently provided free of charge for personal use. You are responsible for your own data and carrier charges. If we introduce paid features, we will present the price and terms clearly before you are charged, and you will be able to choose whether to use them.

8. Service availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but it is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may interrupt the Service for maintenance, upgrades, or legal reasons. We may discontinue the Service; if we do, we will give reasonable notice where we can.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app (see Support & account deletion). We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we are required to by law. The sections on Your Content, Privacy, and Disclaimers and liability survive termination.

10. No emergency services

Tacet does not provide access to emergency services such as the police, fire department, hospitals, or other public-safety organizations. Make sure you can reach emergency services through a mobile, fixed-line, or other telephone service.

11. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and freedom from harmful code. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability is limited to USD 100. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect and update the date above. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
